'I'm Harvey Milk: Life Story of Harvey Milk'

“I'm Harvey Milk" is a one-actor play that chronicles the life and times of LGBTQ+ rights leader Harvey Milk, the first openly gay man elected to a major office in the United States. The play follows Milk's life from his youth through his days as a controversial and groundbreaking politician, including the stunning events surrounding his assassination in San Francisco City Hall and the trial of his killer that followed. 

'Dare To Be Sexy': A "Weird Al" Burlesque Tribute

'School of Rock'

Andrew Lloyd Webber’s "School of Rock – The Musical" is a two-hour, two-act show based on the hit movie. The show follows Dewey Finn, a failed, wannabe rock star who decides to earn some extra cash by posing as a substitute teacher at a prestigious prep school. There, he turns a class of straight-A pupils into a guitar-shredding, bass-slapping, mind-blowing rock band. But can he get them to the Battle of the Bands without their parents and the school’s headmistress finding out?

'Urinetown'

"Urinetown" is a sidesplitting satirical musical that lambasts capitalism, environmental collapse, municipal politics and doomed star-crossed love. In a sprawling but collapsing urban metropolis, a 20-year drought has caused a catastrophic water shortage that’s led to a government-enforced ban on private toilets. The citizens of said metropolis must use public amenities owned and operated by an evil corporation that profits by charging admission to the most popular seat in the house, so to speak. A hero will arise. A revolution will be sparked. And an unlikely love story will unfold. But will any of it be enough to topple the corrupt and malevolent powers-that-be? 'Cebollas'

Three middle-aged Chicanas are forced to take an unexpected road trip from Albuquerque to Denver. Making their way north on I-25, they don’t travel for business or for pleasure. They just need to transport a dead body across state lines! Speeding past the familiar locales of Bernalillo, Santa Fe, Huerfano, Colorado Springs and Castle Rock, they reflect on shared family history and muse about the lives their daughters might live. On this seemingly endless stretch of highway, their bickering, laughter, singing and discoveries will fundamentally change—and strengthen—their relationship. New Mexican culture and the immutable bond of sisterhood take center stage in this outlandish comedy, which garnered stellar audience response at the 2022 Colorado New Play Summit.

'What the Constitution Means to Me'

During its 2019 run on Broadway, "What The Constitution Means to Me" received a tidal wave of critical praise, two Tony Award nominations and ultimately became a Pulitzer finalist. In this smart and timely comedy, Heidi Schreck resurrects her 15-year-old self who traveled the country competing in American Legion speech competitions to save money for college. Unearthing her perspective on the Constitution then and now, she delves into four generations of women in her family and how the founding document shaped their lives.

'Honk! JR.'

Ugly looks quite a bit different from his darling duckling brothers and sisters. The other animals on the farm are quick to notice and point this out, despite his mother's protective flapping. Feeling rather foul about himself, the little fowl finds himself on an adventure of self-discovery, all the while unknowingly outwitting a very hungry Cat. Along the way, Ugly meets a whole flock of unique characters and finds out being different is not a bad thing to be.

'Jekyll & Hyde'

Colorado Ballet will treat audiences to a Denver premiere of the full-length ballet "Jekyll & Hyde," inspired by the classic Gothic novella by Robert Louis Stevenson. Choreographer Val Caniparoli’s neoteric production explores the human psyche and capacity for both good and evil. Set to the music of acclaimed composers Frédéric Chopin, Krzysztof Penderecki, Henryk Górecki, Wojciech Kilar and Henryk Wieniawski and featuring scenic and costume design by David Israel Reynoso.

'The Nacirema Society'

Every year since Emancipation, the Nacirema Society of Montgomery, Alabama, introduces six elegant African American debutantes to a world of wealth, privilege and social responsibility. This year, at its 100th anniversary, with young love brewing, old flames simmering and national media attention on hand, what could go awry? This warm and funny play from the Firehouse Theater Company takes place in 1964, 10 years after the bus boycott and just as Martin Luther King, Jr. is preparing for a massive voter registration drive.

Hall, set to the music of Aaron Copeland; "Check Cashing Day" by Cleo Parker Robinson; and "Timber" by Winifred R. Be among the first people in Colorado to experience this powerful, musical retelling of Lorraine Hansberry’s classic, “A Raisin in the Sun.” This soulful and inspiring musical about a proud Black family’s quest for a better life in 1951 Chicago. Three generations of Walter Younger’s family live in a single, cramped apartment. But when Walter’s father passes away, and the family receives a substantial life insurance payout, grief gives way to hope. Walter wants to use the money to open a small business, while his mother wants to invest in homeownership outside the impoverished community in Southside Chicago and to pay for her daughter’s medical school education.
