In Denver, as in most towns across the nation, pizza parlors are everywhere. But no matter where you’re from or where you’re headed, you’ll feel right at home in these stellar pizza joints.

Vero

Imagine devouring fresh pizza, seconds removed from a wood-fired oven shipped all the way from Naples, Italy. Located at Denver Central Market, Vero is one of the city’s newest restaurants and the brainchild of noted chef Andrea Frizzi. You can literally have a slice of Italy here.

SLICEWORKS PIZZA

Need a pizza to please every palate? Head to SliceWorks, where you can choose from a variety of traditional pies (think: red sauce, mozzarella, basil and parmigiana) as well as out-of-the-ordinary creations like a Colorado-inspired green chili pizza. With locations in Capitol Hill and LoDo, a slice is never far away.

Beau Jo’s

Beau Jo’s dates back to 1973 when it started its Colorado-style pizza business in Idaho Springs, a popular hangout for skiers and snowboarders heading to and from the ski resorts. Now you can enjoy a healthy gluten-free menu in Arvada.

Crush Pizza & Tap

Take your pick. Chicago-style deep dish or thin crust pizza (gluten-free available). Denver Deep Dish’s is located in the Highland neighborhood, not far from downtown and mere blocks from the new Fox Street light rail station. They also have salads, sandwiches, beer and spirits. And you won't want to miss the seitan wings.

Expect the unexpected at this beer-centric pizzeria and taproom in the Berkeley neighborhood in north Denver. Pizza toppings include intriguing ingredients like beer-braised brisket, mashed potatoes, house-smoked tofu and blackberry barbecue sauce, and the taps are filled with an ever-rotating selection of exclusive craft beers from cult local producers like Crooked Stave and Strange Craft Beer Company.

Marco's Coal-Fired

Marco's serves up handmade pizza with artisanal cheeses and meats from Italy, Limoncello chicken wings and—be still our hearts—a Nutella pizza for dessert. It's certified by the Associazione Verace Pizza Napoletana, meaning that Racca’s pies adhere to strict guidelines originally set in place to guarantee the quality of pizzas made in Naples, Italy. It has two locations, one near Coors Field and the other in Englewood.

Mellow Mushroom Pizza Bakers & Bar

Mellow out at this unique pizza joint featuring hand-tossed, stone-baked premium pizzas made with the finest ingredients, plus hoagies, calzones and fresh salads. The heated patio means you can hang out in the fresh air at Mellow Mushroom virtually year-round on the 16th Street Mall.

Mici Handcrafted Italian

Just steps from the Colorado Convention Center and the 16th Street Mall, Mici is beloved by pizza aficionados in The Mile High City. They've also got pasta, paninis, salads, gelato, beer and wine, all at extremely reasonable prices.

Cart-Driver

Tucked inside a shipping container in Denver’s River North Art District (RiNo) neighborhood, Cart-Driver pairs premium wood-fired pizzas with fresh oysters. An odd couple? Not in our book! There’s also prosecco on tap, seasonal market plates, Italian-style spritzes and local brews. Cart-Driver also has another location in Lower Highland (LoHi).

The Walnut Room

The Walnut Room in RiNo tosses a not-to-be-missed house special pie with tomato pesto, green olives and, you guessed it, walnuts (among other things).

Kaos Pizzeria

With a leafy patio from which to soak up the atmosphere on Old South Pearl Street, this local favorite scores with inventive signature pies like the “Smokestack” (featuring bacon, fire-roasted poblano peppers and goat cheese) and the “Broccoli + Tater” (topped with roasted garlic, white cheddar, broccoli, potatoes and créme fraîche). But regularly changing specials are surefire hits too, featuring gourmet ingredients like duck confit, smoked salmon and even caviar.
