Here are three ways to blow your mind during spring break in Denver. Bring along the whole family for the adventure.
1. DENVER'S GOURMET MARKETS
In the past five years, Denver has welcomed an astonishing six market halls that offer dining, drinking and shopping bliss under one respective roof. Before the market hall craze commenced, several locally owned gourmet food markets set the stage as places to purchase top-notch meats, seafood, produce, baked goods, specialty foods and ingredients, and quick meals to eat there or take away. Take a look at our list and create your own market tour!
2. AMTRAK WINTER PARK EXPRESS SKI TRAIN
One of the most iconic Colorado travel experiences is riding the Amtrak Winter Park Express ski train from Denver Union Station to the base of Winter Park Resort, home to some of the state’s best skiing and riding, as well as tubing, ice skating and scenic snowcat tours. And then there’s the train ride itself through Colorado’s backcountry landscapes. No other ski resort in the United States has slopeside train service! For the 2020 season, the ski train will run Jan. 10–March 29, 2020, on Fridays, Saturdays and Sundays only.
3. DENVER ZOO
Visit the Denver Zoo this summer!
Set aside several hours for exploration at the Denver Zoo, an eye-opening experience for all ages. The zoo's latest habitat, Harmony Hill, is home to a rescued resident, Tundra. The zoo designed the exhibit to bring the bear's compelling story to the forefront and help guests learn how they can live in harmony (hence the name) with bears in the wild and their own backyards. And starting in spring 2020, the zoo will unveil a new interactive exhibit called Stingray Cove. Zoo visitors will be able to safely touch and feed an array of stingrays and sharks in an 18,000-gallon saltwater pool. The pool will be low enough for young children to reach while providing zones for the animals to rest and hide when they need a break.
